GPS fun

Just getting back from my trip to Arizona, I stumbled across potential fun future gadgetry. This group from Google training for a 24 hour mountain biking race in Moab was able to overlay the race route onto a Google Earth map of the area. If you have a GPS unit and Google Earth Plus, you can map out a hiking, biking or traveling route (using tracks and waypoints data) onto any map. Boy I would have loved to share my killer hike in the Grand Canyon this way. Very cool.

Learn more about their GPS setup or about using GPS devices with Google Earth. If you have Google Earth, you can download a .kmz file to see their Moab route.
